To understand about the liberalism in Pakistan, first we should see the real meaning of the liberalism and the most common and the simplest definition one could find anywhere is that "Accepting or respecting the fact that different people can have different opinions on same matter".

That means one should have to learn to respect that someone else can have a totally different opinion then him/her and not wrong at the same time, he/she might not agree to what they say but that doesn't make them wrong, being liberal means understanding all this, but sadly in todays world the correct interpretation on this world has been lost on way.

If we talk about Pakistan, because of certain things, the value of liberalism has been lost and its meaning has been changed to being modern and adapting western norms and culture rather than being open minded and accepting other's point of view, the most people that call themselves liberal are those who are totally influenced by the western culture and they want to force this culture on others and in this society , they consider that liberalism.

Our society is not perfect, it has its flaws and they need fixation but instead of fixing those problem, force a culture which is totally opposite to ours and has totally different norms, is not the solution. According to their standards if a woman if dressed modestly no matter how educated she is or how independent she is,  she is oppressed or have a backward mind but if she wear modern dresses , she is considered liberal.

They consider it is okay to say anything about anyone without any consequence and call it Freedom of speech, like its consider okay to do a personal verbal attack on someone or start campaigns against him/her,  like they did against khalil ur rehman and Imran khan recently but if someone reply to that with some different mindset , it is considered unacceptable and they are told they are spread hate speech, its all fine as long as people agree with them but if they go against them they are not allowed to have opinion then it is considered hate speech.

If we talk about rising feminism in Pakistan, rather then standing for women's rights, they consider pulling men down feminism. There are people who are fighting for women's rights, who are fighting so they women wont feel scared walking by herself on the street, who are fighting so the girls in the rural area could get education, who are fighting so that women could go out in the world and work but all that lost attention when certain groups found all these issue, all these matters less important then what women should wear.
